Glare can cause entire sections of the board to become "invisible" to viewers in different sections of the room, or create viewing discomfort for attendees. Glare can cause a reduction in character-to-background contrast, reducing the legibility of screen characters, which at the extreme can cause the contents of the whiteboard to become unrecognisable. Because this only affects viewing at eye level and from only parts of the class-room, many whiteboard users are not even aware of this major shortcoming!
